Verizon 5G – First to Real Time

I had the privilege of taking the lead in working on the technical/creative on this spot. Designed a few iterations of the look/feel that was ultimately narrowed down after a few rounds were reviewed and approved by the CD Tom McCullough. Worked in Cinema 4D using Octane renderer/Deadline. After Effects was used to generate the Sun and on-screen elements. Assets were passed onto the crack 2D team for finish.

Pre-Production + Look Development

Careful attention was placed on the Planetary orbits and the light from the Sun so that this was realistically lit as if it were the actual solar system. The scale had to be condensed to fit the shot but overall we were able to compositionally make everything flow without feeling too crowded.

There were a few secondary/tertiary assets that were also iterated such as the falling stars. A few options of these elements were created and passed onto the 2D team.

Quick Process Overview

I always feel in my element working in Cinema 4D. I was jamming across 3-4 different machines: one for texturing, one for animating, another for managing the renders on deadline, another for creating secondary elements. I get an adrenaline rush working this way. Call me a crazy nerd ;p

When you work with a 2D team that is flexible enough to appreciate render passes and the design team, the sky is the limit. Thank you guys.

UI + Tertiary Elements

Secondary and tertiary elements also designed and animated for the spot. UI and social screens. Andrei Juradowitch and I worked on the Planetary Data graphics together. Adrei’s has an eye for excellent design.
